Eating disorders can affect people of any age and background. Often they start out as a way to try and cope with a difficult situation or set of feelings.
If you are concerned about yourself, or about a friend, the Beat website below can help. It has lots of information about eating disorders and support available.
If you feel you are suffering with an eating disorder and would like any more help with managing this, please do contact us.
If you are concerned about a friend who may be struggling, we would advise you talk to a trusted adult such as a parent or teacher.

Nexus telephone support service
Nexus is a new telephone support service for parents, siblings, partners, and others caring for a loved one who has an eating disorder. It is provided by Beat.
Through Nexus, you’ll be able to connect each week with a trained Beat advisor, who’ll provide you with a place to talk through what you’re going through and empower you to help your loved one towards positive change.
The programme is based on Professor Janet Treasure’s book Skills-based Learning for Caring for a Loved One with an Eating Disorder: The New Maudsley Method.
Visit the Best website page for more information about how to access the service.
