Viral warts and verrucas are a common condition, especially in children. They will self-resolve but this may take a couple of years.
There are a few treatment options available:
- Wait for the wart / verruca to resolve itself
- Topical treatment with Salicyclic Acid (eg, Bazuka). Trials show us that this is the most effective option. Treatment should be applied daily for 12 weeks.
- Cryotherapy (freezing). We are able to offer this at Middlewood. However, a large trial has shown us that it is no better than the placebo. It can also be painful.
